Our Holland

Ok so I've really been horrible at posting, but my whole life seems like it revolves around recker and ASD, which is 100% fine by me and i wouldn't have it any other way, but I'm afraid friends and family get sick of hearing about health conditions, tantrums and difficulties resulting from ASD. So i figured i'd use this blog "OUR HOLLAND" as an outlet for all things Autism related.

Forewarning:this is an outlet for me to vent and be real about what Autism REALLY is like for our family, and most of the time its not pretty. Its hard and we try REALLY HARD not to show everyone how hard it is on us but we need somewhere to express and why not a blog where other mothers and families of children with autism can read and relate. I have found so much comfort in reading blogs from other moms who are going through the similar things as us. As much as others try to sympathize and relate to you, unless you have a child with ASD there is absolutely NO WAY possible to even come close to understanding the feelings and everything that comes along with being a parent of a child with ASD. I luckily have such loving friends and especially family. They are incredible and are interested in learning about Recker and what they can do to help, i know things would have been a lot worse if i didn't have them to turn to, so thank you!!!

-I will also be posting Information for those who want to know more about Autism Spectrum Disorder and are too afraid to ask. I will post new studies and information that comes out also, regardless of my personal beliefs about them...i think its important to stay informed about any and everything related to Autism.

Recker has the most amazing aunts! Last night i opened up the doors to his castle and found his Aunt Kaitlyn giving him a foot massage, and to end the night Aunt Haleigh taught him how to combine two of his ABSOLUTE FAVORITE THINGS, Oreos and almond milk! He is definitely surrounded by people who love him unconditionally!!

Phoenix Autism Speaks Walk

November 13, 2011

Blake finally came home!!!! We've been missing him like crazy and counting down the days (literally) for him to get home, especially considering he has never met Recker. It was amazing to see him and it has been soooooo great to have him home, for good! 2 years is long enough!

(Blakes first place he wanted to go was LoLo's -
fried chicken & waffles Recker loved that Red Drank)

We also attended the Autism Speaks Walk for Autism last sunday, we had a TON of people show up to support TEAM RECKER! First and foremost i want to thank everyone who came down and supported Recker, Jeremy and I. We have the most amazing family and friends, and things like this really show you who your true ones are, so thank you guys and we love you so much! The walk itself was short, (well we opted for the short route, hey we had kids in tow) but we stayed for hours getting free information and talking to so many support groups and therapy centers. I can't leave out the amazing donations that SPROUTS had, we took home hundreds of dollars of GFCF food (which isn't saying too much considering how expensive it is to begin with) but it was incredible! Recker is set up with enough snacks to last him the rest of the year.

And then of course there was halloween....
Recker was a Lumberjack and pretty freaking cute one if i do say so myself!
We only trick or treated at grandparents houses this year...maybe we
will go around the neighborhood next year.
